What to Expect during VelaShape

VelaShape is a non-invasive cellulite reduction treatment that uses a combination of infrared and radiofrequency energy to contour the body's curves and smooth the surface of the skin. This unique FDA approved system is designed to attack problem areas and eliminate dimpling and sagging. Here are some things you can expect if you decide to pursue treatment.

Preparation

There is no special preparation required for the VelaShape procedure.

The Treatment

The doctor will begin by cleansing the targeted areas. After the areas have been cleansed, the doctor will roll a hand-piece over the treatment site. This device will heat the tissue, causing fat cells to shrink and melt. The rollers on the handheld device will then manipulate the skin, creating a firmer, smoother contour. The entire procedure will take anywhere from 40 minutes to an hour, depending on the size of the area being treated.

Recovery

You may resume normal activities immediately after your VelaShape session. You may experience light bruising or mild redness, but this should subside within a few hours. In some cases, patients experience an increase in urine output because the broken down fat cells are passing through the system. Drinking plenty of fluids will allow you to pass this material within a few days.

Follow-Up

It may take up to six treatments to achieve the desired results. After the initial session, you must wait a week before receiving the treatment again.

Results

Some patients notice visible results after just one treatment session. VelaShape reduces the appearance of cellulite and can trim inches off the circumference of the hips, thighs and abdomen. Results are temporary, however. Maintenance is required every six months.
