How can I improve facial skin tone and texture?

I have had acne since I was 14 years old. It has been 8 years, and I still have it. I was wondering if there's anything I can do to improve my facial skin tone and texture. I have various depressions and acne scars. Thank you.

Hello. There are many ways to treat acne scars. The most appropriate treatment for you will depends on your goals, finances and what kind of acne scars you have. Below are several options to look into.

Laser skin resurfacing - Full CO2, Fractional CO2, Other Fractional
Lasers, Erbium Laser Resurfacing
Subcision - this is a surgical technique used to release acne scars from
the bottom up.
Punch excision - this is a surgical technique used to remove very small
deep acne scars.
Dermabrasion - this is a surgical procedure that can resurface the skin
manually without lasers.

There are a lot of things you can do to improve your skin texture and tone after suffering from acne. You can use topicals for home use such as glycolic acids, retinol type products (prescription and over the counter strengths),and TNS Recovery Serum. Glycolic peels in the office and a variety of lasers such as IPL (Photofacial) and N Lite or Regenlite Laser
can be used in the office. As you can see we have many treatment options to fit all schedules and budgets. You would need to be evaluated by a Dermatologist who specializes in the skin to better assess your best choices for you. It also depends on your skin type to decide your best treatment option. Be sure to see a Board Certified Dermatologist for this evaluation. This is a 3 year Residency to learn how to treat the skin and all of it's issues. Be picky on treats your skin.

I don’t have cystic acne. In fact, my face is clear right now, except for a bit of texture. But I am Hispanic and I suffered from bad moments of acne in the past year. There are a lot of dark spots left over and they are not going away. I want to try Accutane to prevent any future pimples. I’ve also seen people have such flawless skin while on Accutane and wonder if I could get on it just to help my severe hyperpigmentation. Thank you.
