Laser Away Dark Circles
Nothing can make you look older faster than continuous dark circles under your eyes. They make you look like you don't get any sleep at all which gives you a tired, aged appearance. Additionally, dark eye circles can make your eyes have that sunken in look which affects the rest of your face as well. Many people don't think about getting this taken care of at the doctor's office because the problem isn't severe enough to warrant surgery (such as an eye lift). But a new product which uses lasers to take away that ugly look could bring more people with the problem over to the doctor's office.
A recent ABC.com article takes a look at Aluma, a breakthrough laser treatment that helps refresh your eyes using radio frequency energy. Eyes can be treated safely all the way to the eyelid, making this a treatment which can solve a number of related cosmetic problems. Crows' feet can be wiped away, the fat pads around the eye can be shaped and those unsightly dark circles can be eradicated. Sound like a miracle cure? Well if you've been praying for help with this problem, perhaps that call was answered.

Pioneer Dermatologist Expresses Concerns
There's a big debate going on in the cosmetic dermatology industry as one of the industry's pioneers voices his concerns about current products. Dr. Arnold W. Klein is an elderly dermatologist who worked with temporary anti-wrinkle injections when they were new in the market. His concern is that new, longer-lasting injections are not as safe as the products that he was accustomed to using. He's not just mildly concerned either; he's spearheading a mission to get others in the industry to oppose the newer injections as well.
One of the products that Klein is opposed to is ArteFill, an implanted filler that Klein warns could leave unsightly lumps under the skin with scarring resulting when these lumps are surgically removed. Diane Goosetree whose company produces ArteFill says that Klein's concerns are unwarranted, that these lumps don't occur when proper surgical procedures are followed and that he's been misinformed based on old data that is no longer correct.
Does Klein have a valid case for his cause or is it a case of an older physician being stubborn when it comes to adopting new methods of achieving results?

The Popularity of Angelina Lips
Up until just a few years ago, lips weren't something we thought too much about beyond trying to decide which shade of lipstick looked best on us. That's obviously not the case anymore, now that the Angelina Jolie lip look has spread across the world. These days, sexy means having those full lips. And since most people don't have them naturally, the demand for lip augmentation has only gone up.
A recent study by the American Academy of Facial Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery (AAFPRS) found that lip augmentation procedures have increased over 150% in the last two years. Some people go with the actual fat grafting procedure that bulks up the lips with tissue. However, the increased popularity of the procedure is due in large part to the relative simplicity of lip fillers such as Juvederm or Restylane.
Now you just need to find something to pout about.

Prep Your Face For Fall Cosmetics
Most people who are worried about their complexion during the summer months are thinking about sunburns. The summer face is one that makes the most of natural and salon tans to give you that glow that you desire. But summer is over sweetheart. You've got to get your face ready for fall. As that tan fades and you start using the cosmetics that are gracing the industry's counters in this new season, you need to make sure that you are starting with fresh facial skin.
The glow from your tan is going to fade as you start to spend more time indoors. This means that you're going to need to make the most of your cosmetics to get back that fresh-faced look. The way to maximize the appearance of your cosmetics is to make sure that the skin underneath them is as fresh and clean as possible. As the autumn months begin, you should be looking at facials and chemical peels to get your face in order.
Facials are a good start for cleaning up the grime of summer and getting your face prepped for fall. But if you're going to really get down to the nitty gritty, an appointment for a chemical peel may be in order. If you didn't treat your skin quite as well as you should have during the summer months, it may be sun-damaged. Repair it with a chemical peel to get to the bottom of the problem. With a refreshed face, you can start picking out your fall cosmetics and getting ready for the fun fall holidays that are just around the corner.

Doctor or Day Spa?
Laser surgery is a popular choice these days for everything from hair removal to getting rid of that tattoo that you shouldn't have gotten that one drunken night. It's a terrific thing that laser surgery has become so widespread that it's now affordable to the average person. After all, we all want to feel a little more confident and ridding ourselves of that unwanted hair and those bad choices goes a long way towards building that confidence. But the fact that laser treatments are so widespread these days may not always be a good thing.
A new report by CNN Health looks at the importance of knowing who it is that you're getting your laser surgery from and what kind of expertise these people have. They warn that if you aren't going to a member of the American Society for Dermatologic Surgery, you may be opening yourself up to some surgical risks that you would probably rather avoid. They specifically cite the case of a woman who went to a med spa that was performing illegal surgeries and who, as a result, suffered excruciating pain as a result of the lasers. You don't want your bad tattoo erased that badly.
There are plenty of good med spas out there and there are a number of different places that you can go to get laser surgery. You just need to be aware of the risks that are involved in this common cosmetic dermatology practice. Be sure to interview the doctor who will be performing your laser surgery about his or her experience and certifications. A good doctor will not take offense to this kind of questioning and you can save yourself a whole lot of pain.

Camouflage Cosmetics Cure Your Cosmetic Blues (and Reds)
Do you remember that old Sex and the City episode in which Samantha spontaneously decides to get a chemical peel and has to turn up at an event with a face that looks raw and battered? Some of us cringe in recognition when we watch that re-run and some people are afraid to even try cosmetic dermatology because they don't want to end up looking like that. The fact of the matter is that there is some redness and discoloration associated with certain cosmetic dermatology procedures. But the medical industry knows about the problem as well as consumers do and has been working on products and services to resolve it.
One of the latest miracle workers in this line of solutions is camouflage cosmetics. Cosmetic dermatologists are increasingly starting to use camouflage make-up in their post-care procedures. What this make-up does is covers up the redness and irritation of the procedure without causing any harm to the skin. You get the long-term results that you're seeking from your surgery without the short term scare of discolored skin. You can rest easy knowing that even though you've got a meeting after your morning appointment, you'll be fresh and ready to go.
Some cosmetic dermatologists are even beginning to employ paramedical camouflage therapists in their office. This makes going to the doctor an experience that's almost as pleasant as going to the spa. After your chemical peel or Botox injection, you'll relax like a superstar while a professional does your make-up. The point of these procedures is to help you look and feel your best. Camouflage cosmetics could be a step in the right direction. Learn more about using these kinds of cosmetics from this Dermatology Times article on the topic.
