Are Botox Fears Really Scarier Than School Shootings?
There has been a lot of media attention on the whole Botox issue lately. The FDA has been investigating the safety of Botox after a group of concerned citizens linked child deaths to use of the treatment in mothers. This has caused something that could be called hysteria among certain groups of people.

But an interesting article pointed out something important: there is other news going on. The article was specifically about the fact that the school shooting at Louisiana Technical College got very little media attention. It was lost under a cloud of other headlines, many of which were related to the Botox issues.

Fear that is bred by the media is something interesting. We start getting excessively paranoid about one particular thing because it is given disproportionate media attention. That may be the case right now with Botox.

Question of the Day: Do you think Botox deserves as much negative media attention as its getting right now?

3 Skin Tightening Procedures To Consider
If you've considered skin tightening treatments in the past but didn't know enough about them to move forward, consider choosing between one of these three popular choices:

- Titan Non-Surgical Facelift. This system uses infrared light to tighten the skin over time so you won't get immediate results but your face will be younger than ever about six months after starting the treatments.

- Skin Tyte. Skin Tyte can be used for many different reasons but is often used for simple things such as curing rosacea, reducing the effects of treatments like Botox and chemical peels and removing acne scars. These results are usually seen shortly after the first treatment or two.

- Refirme. This uses Bi-Polar Radio Frequency to offer skin rejuvenation and wrinkle-reducing results. These results are usually seen immediately.

Skin tightening is an option for reducing wrinkles and mitigating the effects of various other treatments. Talk over the details with your doctor in order to choose the type of tightening treatment that makes sense for you.

Question of the Day: What skin tightening treatments can you tell us more about from personal experience?

Cosmetic Acupuncture vs. Dermal Fillers
Many people have fears about using dermal fillers to improve the appearance of their face. We understand; even though these minimally invasive procedures are low-risk, starting them when you're new to them can be a little bit nerve-wracking. But are alternative procedures really a better way to go? Many people who want to avoid injections, even minimally-invasive ones, are turning to the latest trend in cosmetic acupuncture to improve the appearance of their faces. Is it the way to go?

BlueRidgeNow recently reported on the case of a woman who once used Botox and then decided to switch to cosmetic acupuncture. She says that she's paying the price in terms of money spent but is pleased with the results of her treatment. However, the article also points out that no studies have been done improving the effectiveness of the procedure. And when you think about it, you still have to worry about the fear of putting needles into your face.

What these people are replacing with cosmetic acupuncture is the use of dermal fillers. Botox, Restylane and Radiesse are all dermal fillers that are used to plump up the cheeks, the eyes and the lips to improve the appearance of the face. They smooth out wrinkles and reduce the appearance of aging. If you have hesitations about using these chemical injections but don't particularly want to go to an acupuncturist for your skin rejuvenation, consider asking your doctor about a treatment like the Titan Non-Surgical Facelift which provides a happy medium for your concerns.

Question of the Day: What is your take on cosmetic acupuncture?

Celebrity Botox: Young and the Restless
A recap of The Young and the Restless last week harped on actress Judith Chapman (who plays Gloria on the show) about the amount of Botox that she's had done. But it wasn't so much that she's had it done that seemed to be the point. It seemed more like there was the hint of suggestion that Judith might want to consider other work as well. What the author of the post said was:

How much Botox has this woman had? Do you ever notice that her neck skin is really wrinkly, but her face is as smooth as a baby's butt?

At first glance, it seems like a derisive statement. But the truth of the matter is that most women want a face that looks so smooth. So what the real issue is, then, is that perhaps Chapman should think about doing something to improve her neck. A neck lift would be one option. Or if Judith doesn't want to engage in celebrity plastic surgery, a non-surgical face lift might do the trick.

Celebrity Quotes on Plastic Surgery and Beauty
Starpulse News Blog posted a list of memorable celebrity quotes last week and of course quotes about beauty were on that list. The two that really stood out on the list were those that were quoted by Spice Girl Melanie Chisholm and Actress Nicole Kidman. Chisholm spoke frankly about celebrity plastic surgery while Kidman took a more natural approach to beauty secrets.

The quote by Melanie Chisholm was one which said that she supports plastic surgery but is a little bit afraid of it. For the time being, she's avoiding plastic surgery because of her fears. This is something that real girls can relate to. People want to improve their looks and are willing to consider their medical options but they hesitate because they aren't quite sure what that entails. One option is to go with skin rejuvenation and non-invasive techniques which serve to improve the appearance of the face without the risks of surgery.

Nicole Kidman's quote was more romantic. She said that her best beauty secret is to "fall in love". It's true that falling in love gives girls that happy glow. But falling in love isn't something that you can plan and sometimes you need a little bit more concrete action for improving your appearance. Again, non-invasive techniques can provide that beauty boosting option. A chemical peel can be used to refresh the skin and give it that glowing look that you'd get if you'd recently fallen in love.
