Perlane can be injected I to the lip by a very experienced practitioner.
There is much less room for error with this HA product though it can be
corrected with Hylaronidase. I would recommend more forgiving products like juvederm or restylane if this is your initial injection.

Yes, you can have the Restylane or Juvederm injected for lip augmentation. These products provide a more natural look and have great patient satisfaction. They last from 6 months to a year. Restylane comes in 1/2 cc syringes and Juvederm only comes in 1cc syringes. Depending on the lips and possibly other areas you want injected will help make the decision on which one we use.

There are several choices of fillers for lip augmentation. Some will use the patients own fat, however, hyaluronic acids such as juvederm, or restylane are the most common fillers. A new collagen product, Evolence, is also a choice.
It is important to select a filler that will look and feel natural in the lip. The lip must be soft and smooth in order to appear natural and some fillers are too stiff and may appear lumpy.
The reason that hyaluronic acids like juvederm and restylane are the most common is because they provide this natural look and feel. Patient satisfaction with them is high and they can last anywhere from 4 months to up to 1 year depending upon the patient.

While there are several different products that can be used for lip augmentation, we prefer Restylane or Juvederm. The reason is that these products have a more fluid consistency that works well for this sensitive area. Juvederm is actually preferred but because it only comes in a 1 cc syringe, it often contains too much product for the lips. Restylane on the other hand offers a .4 cc syringe, which typically is just about the right amount for the lips.

Temporary, bio-compatible, rejuvenative, and pliable products like Juvederm, or possibly Restylane should be used for lip augmentation. I use both, but I have had the best results with Juvederm.
