How a facial fat transfer is performed
A facial fat transfer is relatively simple, and can be performed in your clinician's office in usually in about an hour.Your doctor may give you local or general anesthesia, depending on the extent of your procedure. The fat cells are harvested from one area of your body, such as your belly, using a needle or very thin tube called a cannula. The fat is then cleaned, processed, and injected into your face or lips using a fine needle or small cannula. Your doctor may massage the injection site to smooth out the fat.
Recovery and Results
You may have some slight bruising or swelling in the injection sites, but the results of your procedure will be visible right away. Results can last several years, but your body will naturally reabsorb some of the injected fat over time, so you may need additional treatments.
