How Fotofacial/IPL treatment is performed
Treatment is performed in your dermatologist’s office and takes about 20 minutes per session. Your skin will be cleansed and your doctor may apply a numbing or cooling gel for your comfort. Your doctor then passes the handheld fotofacial IPL device over your skin. The light is administered in flashes that feel like a rubber band snapping against your skin.Fotofacial IPL treatment can be performed on your face, neck, shoulders, back, and hands. People with darker skin tones may not be good candidates for the treatment.
Results and Recovery
Most people can return to work the same day as their treatment, although you may have noticeable skin redness and mild irritation for one to two days. After five to seven days the dark spots on your skin will flake off, leaving a more youthful and even skin tone.
