Fraxel Re:pair is an in-office treatment that takes about one to two hours.Your dermatologist will cleanse your skin and apply a topical numbing agent for your comfort. An injected nerve blocker may also be used. The laser hand piece is passed over your skin, treating small sections at time. You’ll feel some mild to moderate discomfort during treatment. The laser penetrates into the middle dermis layer of your skin, ablating many tightly packed microscopic spots. The damaging effect of the laser triggers your skin to heal, producing tighter, smoother, and more evenly toned skin.
Recovery and results
You can expect about a week of significant downtime after Fraxel Re:pair treatment. You may have significant discomfort and your skin will be red, dry, and flaky as your skin peels and heals over the next week or so.
