SmartXide DOT (dermal optical thermolysis) therapy is a laser skin resurfacing treatment that reduces the appearance of wrinkles, loose skin, sun damage, and scars. SmartXide is a fractional CO2 laser that has an adjustable treatment depth, strength, and laser pattern for customized treatment of the face, neck and body. Treatment is not painful, and recovery and downtime are minimal.
How SmartXide DOT therapy is performed
SmartXide DOT therapy is performed in-office using topical anesthetic and takes less than an hour.Your dermatologist will numb your skin with a topical anesthetic and pass the SmartXide laser hand piece over your skin. The laser selectively heats and ablates your skin in a pattern of closely packed dots. The untreated spaces between the dots help your skin heal faster and more comfortably. You may have some mild discomfort during treatment, but it isn’t painful. Since the SmartXide laser settings are adjustable, you can have a mild treatment for limited results, or a more aggressive treatment for greater results, but more downtime.
Recovery and results
Your recovery depends on the laser settings used for your treatment, but most people can expect downtime of about 3-5 days. You’ll have some skin redness, swelling, and discomfort, which will feel similar to a sunburn. Your skin will heal.
